How Holman Simmons Ltd handles the information you send us, in plain English. The short version: we use it to reply to your enquiry, we do not sell it, and we do not track you around the internet.

Last updated 26 October 2026

Who we are

Holman Simmons Ltd is a general building contractor registered in England and Wales, company number 10453295, with its registered office at Belfry House, Bell Lane, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG14 1BP.

We are the data controller for the information described here. If you want to ask about any of it, email Scott@holmansimmons.co.uk or call 07786 578924.

What we collect, and when

We only collect information you choose to send us. There is no account to create and nothing is gathered in the background.

  • If you use the planner on the home page: your name, your phone number, and the four answers you gave about the job.
  • If you use the form on the contact page: your name, your phone number, and optionally your email address, your postcode and whatever you write in the message box.
  • If you call, email or message us on WhatsApp: whatever you tell us in that conversation. WhatsApp messages are handled by WhatsApp under their own privacy terms, not ours.

What we use it for

To reply to your enquiry, arrange a site visit, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, carry out and invoice the work. That is the whole list.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you asked us about building work and we are getting back to you about building work. Where we go on to do the job, we are also processing it to perform our contract with you.

We do not use what you send to advertise to you, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who else sees it

As few people and companies as possible:

  • Netlify, who host this website and receive the form submissions before emailing them to us. Netlify acts as our processor.
  • Fathom Analytics, who provide the visit counting described below. Fathom is a Canadian company. It stores nothing on your device and collects nothing that identifies you: your IP address is used for a moment to work out which country you are in and to tell one visit from another on the same day, and is not stored.
  • Simple Change, who built and look after this website, and who receive a copy of enquiry notifications so we can be sure the forms are working.
  • Our own team, where they need to know in order to do the work.

We do not give your details to any other builder, merchant, lead-generation service or advertiser.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies. There are no advertising pixels, no session tracking and nothing that follows you to another website. That is why there is no cookie banner on this site: there is nothing stored on your device for you to consent to.

One small exception: when you arrive, this website notes how you got here (for example from Google or Facebook) and the first page you landed on, and sends that with any enquiry you choose to submit. It is kept only in your browser tab until you close it, and no cookies are used.

We do count visits, using Fathom Analytics. It records which page was viewed, which site you arrived from, your country, and the type of device, browser and operating system you used. We also count four actions: taps on our phone number, on WhatsApp, on our email address, and enquiries sent through the forms. It does not store anything on your device, does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you and cannot identify you. We use it to see which pages are useful and which are not.

If that ever changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and you will be asked for consent where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept for up to two years, because people often come back to a project a year or more after first asking about it, and then deleted.

Where we carry out work for you, we keep the job records for six years after the work finishes. That is the period we may need them for tax, insurance and any dispute about the work.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete it, or stop using it in a particular way. You can also object to us processing it on the basis of legitimate interests.

Email Scott@holmansimmons.co.uk or call 07786 578924 and we will deal with it. There is no charge and we will respond within one month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. There is no version history kept, so if the date matters to you, save a copy.
