House extensions in Welwyn Garden City

We did extension work in the Welwyn area during 2025, run from our Hertford yard. That is a smaller record than we have in Hertford or Ware and we would rather say so than pad it out. The team and the way we work are the same wherever the job is, and the free visit is the cheapest way to find out whether we are right for yours. Planning here goes to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

Questions people ask us about building in Welwyn Garden City

The answers below are specific to Welwyn Garden City. Planning rules are national, but the authority that applies them is local, and yours is Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

Do I need planning permission for an extension in Welwyn Garden City?

Possibly, and more often than elsewhere in our patch. Welwyn Garden City has design controls that come from it being a planned garden city, and much of it sits in a conservation area, so permitted development rights can be reduced. The authority is Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. We will tell you where you stand on the free visit.

Do you cover Welwyn village and Digswell?

Yes, along with Tewin and the surrounding villages. They are within our normal working area.

What sort of work do you take on around Welwyn?

Extensions and refurbishments mainly, plus garage conversions. If you are not sure which makes more sense for your house, that is exactly what the free visit is for.

Planning something in Welwyn Garden City?

Tell us roughly what you are planning and Scott will come and look. The visit, the advice and the written quote are all free.
